The Venue
THE PARTY BARN
Retaining its original beauty, the Party Barn radiates rustic charm. Seating up to 140 guests on long banquet tables, carefully handcrafted to suit the setting, the barn is softly lit with fairy lights and candles to create the most memorable and magical atmosphere.
As day switches to night, the Party Barn transforms into the ultimate party setting, suitable for up to 200 guests. Complete with stage for your band or DJ, atmospheric lighting and incredible acoustics provided by the thick cob walls.
The adjoining Bar and Lounge area offers a relaxed space to take respite from the dance floor. We offer a fully stocked bar or you may choose to provide your own alcohol (corkage fee applies).
As you step outside of the barn, fairy lights and uplighters light the trees, pathways and fire pit, creating an equally stunning and inviting setting outside, as it is inside.
THE CHAPEL BARN
The setting of the Chapel Barn is like no other. Lit with candles and fairy lights and decorated to your taste, the Chapel Barn oozes rustic charm and beautiful details. From the gorgeous stained glass windows that filter glorious natural light, to the quaint and quirky beams overhead adorned with sparkling lights. The whole feel of the Chapel Barn is peaceful, welcoming and full of love.
Before you begin your walk down the aisle, take a final glimpse of yourself in the considerately positioned gilt mirror on the entrance to the barn.
Should you opt for an outdoor ceremony or a Church wedding, The Chapel Barn is still available for you to use however you wish; perhaps to host your drinks reception, as a cinema room or a play area for children. The Chapel Barn also offers a lovely and secluded spot for photographs, particularly useful in wet weather.
The Grounds
Outside, the beautiful and well kept grounds offer unlimited options for an outdoor wedding ceremony; under the cedar tree with views across Dartmoor is one of our particularly favourite spots!
Our grounds and gardens are yours to enjoy as you please. The large lawns provide ample space for outdoor entertainment and games to keep your guests entertained throughout your day.
There are unlimited opportunities and beautiful backdrops for your all important photos, with far reaching view across the Devon countryside and quirky nooks and crannies dotted throughout the farm.
In the evening, thousands of fairy lights will light the pathways and buildings and the fire pit will allow guests to enjoy the outdoor space into the night as the temperature starts to drop. With our rural location and minimal light pollution, Higher Eggbeer offers the most stunning stargazing opportunities on a clear evening - its not to be missed!
THE EGGBEER ARMS
Our Games Room/Bar offers the perfect afterparty venue on your wedding night. Complete with its own bar, pool table, dartboard, table tennis and football table, you can keep the celebrations going for as long as you please! You are free to stock bar with your own alcohol to be enjoyed when our bar is closed.
The Games Room/Bar will be yours to use throughout your hire - there'll never be a dull moment!
THE POOL
Higher Eggbeer has the wonderful advantage of a stunning outdoor heated swimming pool. If there were awards for pools in picturesque locations, then surely ours would be a contender?
The pool has a constant depth of 1.40m and is 12m x 5m in size and is heated to a constant temperature of 26-28 degrees using an eco-friendly woodburning boiler.
The pool and pool house are yours to use as you please during the hire. However, on the afternoon of your wedding, as you head into the barn for your wedding breakfast, we will close the pool for the safety of the guests and reopen it first thing the following morning.
We do not accept any responsibility for injury or loss. The pool is open in the summer months.
Tennis Court
Our brand new AstroTurf tennis court is yours to use and enjoy throughout your stay - don't forget to bring your rackets and balls!
Please note that tennis shoes must be worn on the court.
